![]() Aspen was just a stopover for a few minutes--too ritzy for us, but we had to see it.

That's the historic Independence Square Hotel. ![]() Pike's Peak was higher, but Independence Pass, near Aspen, was pretty high, too.

![]() It was Pike's Peak or Bust, but we took the cog railroad--a fun ride nearly straight up, that took about an hour and a half.
